Chihuahua Figurine Day of the Dead Black Flowers Clay Handmade Mexican Folk Art
From Ahuehuepan, Guerrero, Mexico,
this hand painted black clay dog figurine is so delightful.  On our most recent trip to Mexico, we had another lovely visit with Humberto Lazaro Salvador, his wife and his darling daughter.  Humberto was born in this small indigenous village where he learned his craft from his grandfather, Luciano.  All of Humberto's sculptures are unique, handmade and hand painted in the traditional Nahuatl style.
This cute Day of the Dead Chihuahua dog is hand painted with a matte black background and white skeleton.  Her (or his) blue eyes are painted with pretty red Nahuatl flower buds and gold outlines.  She has red and yellow petals in her ears with white dots, red and gold flower petals on her whiskers and blue petals above her nose.  Her white face is embellished with a big purple Nahuatl flower on her forehead and a
big beautiful red heart with yellow accent on her chest.
The bottom is hand signed by Humberto.
